After spending most of his working life in the building industry Paul has now turned his hobby of Fishkeeping, his passion for NZ native freshwater fish and his enthusiasm for the environment in to a full time business.

Having kept tropical fish off and on most of his life as a hobby Paul discovered NZ native fish in 1990 and was soon instrumental in the forming of the “NZ Native Freshwater Fish Study Group” which was later to become the “NZ Native Freshwater Fish Society.” He has served in many capacities in this and other aquatic focused organizations. Paul has always particularly enjoyed passing on knowledge and enthusiasm for native fish and the environment to the next generation.

All of this passion has now found focus in Paul’s business operations. He does contract fishing work for environmental surveys and fish transfers as well as for supply to scientific researchers and for public displays. He also installs and maintains aquaria of native freshwater fish in various premises (long term and short term) and does various educational activities with schools and tertiary institutes.

It is a measure of Paul’s enthusiasm and belief in the importance of these activities that he almost always over delivers in terms of time and is often to be found doing “freebies” for worthy groups who are not in a position to pay.
