Paul is committed to passing along his knowledge and passion for the freshwater aquatic environment to others especially the young. His wide ranging educational activities include the following list but he is keen to assist in any projects that may be suggested.

  • Public displays. Shopping centers, zoos, government departments, commercial premises and schools have all benefited from Paul’s well equipped display units and native fish collection. These can be “manned” or “unmanned” displays.
  • Lectures. Schools, tertiary educators, environmental groups and general community groups. Paul is an interesting and inclusive speaker at all these and more. If your group has an interest in native fish then contact Paul today.
  • Fish room tours. Paul has a well stocked and dedicated fish room at his home exclusively housing a wide range of NZ native freshwater fish including some rarely seen species. Many a community group has toured this fish room and gone away informed and entertained.
  • Stream walks. Walking a section of stream (usually urban) is a great way for groups to get a look at the aquatic life. Paul excels at this and is a past master at pointing out the various species and habitats.

  • Guided fishing. Small groups who want to get “hands on” experience or to train in fishing and survey methods can engage Paul to take them out in the field for instruction. Paul is well equipped with all the gear and his experience with local bodies and environmental agencies means he adheres to “best practice” safety and environmental policies.
